Outsourcing overseas is seen by companies in first world countries as an extremely profitable marketing strategy. But to the technology and allied workers of these developed countries, this trend seems like a nightmare that is here to take their jobs to overseas locations. They consider outsourcing overseas as a job drainer and want immediate action to be taken against it. Most are of the opinion that companies that outsource overseas should be penalized.This backlash of US workers against outsourcing is seen by many economists as a temporary phenomena. Many including Gartner which is a research company even claim that backlash against outsourcing will stop in the year 2006 as the US economy improves and newer and better jobs are brought into the economy. But as for now it's best to adopt a wait and watch approach.
Near-shoring
A new trend that can pose as a threat to offshore outsourcing is near-shore outsourcing or near-shoring. This is because the major concern of companies today is security. Offshoring security banks, telecommunications offshoring and overseas outsourcing of accounting services require security and necessary backups. This kind of security is available to organizations by nearshoring as compared to offshoring. If this trend becomes successful then it won't be time before the IT outsourcing definition changes from distant destination to nearby outsourcing destination.
