Outsourcing history

In the recent times there has been lots of speculations and negative criticisms against outsourcing to offshore destinations. But it has to be noted that outsourcing as a phenomena is not new but has been going on since ages. If one looks at the outsourcing history one can realize that since ancient times companies in developed countries have outsourced services to nearby less developed counties.

Before the IT revolution, many companies in the US outsourced manufacturing jobs to counties like Canada, Mexico and South America in order to cut costs. Many even set up separate workstations and factories in these regions. The only difference between then and now can be seen in the frantic pace at which things are happening. Also as manufacturing jobs involved solid goods they needed to be transported that gave rise to a different kind of employment opportunity. IT outsourcing does not involved any transportation from the manufacturing destination to the client's place. Apart from these differences outsourcing history seems to be quite an old thing.

Current and future implications of outsourcing

George bush and outsourcing had a thing going together with the former supporting it irrespective of the election times. The situation created by large scale job loss from outsourcing had created mayhem in America but the resistance soon died out and Bush has come to power once again. The once dominant Kerry who supported passing a paper against offshoring could not hold on to his view after he got much acclaim and following because of his strong views against governance it outsourcing. Kerry filled his prior campaigns with talks on how many jobs will be lost to outsourcing and the bad impact of out sourcing on the US economy. But on a later phase he could not hold on to his view as he figured out that stopping outsourcing of jobs in America was not within his reach. Many offshore it outsourcing term paper and research on outsourcing jobs also suggested that job losses will be replaced by newer and better paying ones. Now politically, creating a fair playing ground would have helped but people wanted strong views.

Now that the citizens have given Bush the mandate the u s jobs outsourcing is going to continue unabated and reach new frontiers. Today many communities are benefiting directly by outsourcing and the global economy is getting benefited. The future too holds huge potential for outsourcing of low end as well as high end knowledge based jobs.
